The Harpy Eagle - An Incredible Video From PBS Nature

The Harpy Eagle - An Incredible Video From PBS Nature

By Dell Hill

Something totally different....

I've always been attracted to birds of prey...and most especially the North American Bald Eagle.  In my research on the great symbol of America, I learned of the Harpy eagle, a resident of the Orinoco forests of Venezuela.

When you need pause to rid your mind of the "crazy" that is our daily lives, watch this incredible PBS Nature video.  You'll be mesmerized, as I was, to document the lives of a nesting pair of Harpy eagles and their very recently hatched eaglet.

Harpy eagles are the most powerful birds of prey in the world, but scientists know very little about harpy eagles. NATURE enters their secret world with wildlife filmmaker Fergus Beeley and his team of cameramen as they locate a nest and struggle to document the lives of these elusive birds in Venezuela’s Orinoco River jungle. Buy the DVD. This film premiered on November 9, 2011. (Video limited to U.S. & Territories.
